Money for Recent Significant Improvements, But Not for General
Maintenance
On a tune-up or other light mechanical work, you are probably not going
to get much money added. However, if you recently had significant work
(not just a maintenance brake job) or something substantial repaired or
added, such as a new air conditioning unit, or a head gasket replacement
and valve job, then you are going to get about 25 percent of the cost back
if the work was within 10 months and would have enhanced the life of the
vehicle by improved mechanical condition.
As with the Vehicle Repairs,
you are likely going to work with a different adjuster for salvage from the
one handling your recovery for bodily injury. You will obviously visit with
this adjuster regarding damage to your automobile. Just stay away from
discussion of the facts of the accident or your injuries. There is no need
to discuss those topics.
